Future SUPERFAMILY Updates and Changes

Here we describe our planned changes to SUPERFAMILY.

SUPERFAMILY genome identifiers

Currently we use a two character code to identify genomes uniquely. We plan to replace this identifier with the numeric NCBI taxonomy identifier. The current two character code will be maintained for backwards compatibility.

Family level annotation via DAS

At the moment, the DAS service provides annotation at the SCOP superfamily level for all the genomes included in SUPERFAMILY. We plan to add a separate DAS server for our SCOP family level annotation.
