Abstract

Proteins in this entry are found in archaea, bacteria and eukaryotes. Their function is unknown, but alignment shows several conserved polar residues which are potential catalytic residues. The structure of one of these proteins has been determined and shows homolgy to heat shock protein 33, which is a chaperone protein that inhibits the aggregation of partially denatured proteins [PubMed11854485].
